Canon Series/Origin: Samurai Champloo
Age: 18
School Grade/Teaching Role/Occupation: 7th Year; Gryffindor
Personality: Jin is a quiet, calm, collected and unusually stoic boy, unfazed even when he is faced by strong adversaries. Highly intelligent, he is the kind of person who looks before he leaps; a strategic planner and tactician, leading him to be extraordinarily good at games like chess even if he seems to be lacking in other areas.
Jin is a competent combatant/wizard and is never afraid to risk his life for what he believes in. Living by strict moral codes is important to Jin, and he has his dignity and honour to protect and uphold. Earning his trust will not be easy - but if and/or when you do, Jin will become a valuable asset and a loyal friend.
History: Jin is a pure-blood born to a long line of wizards, but he does not openly make a big deal of his heritage, making it a point to never mention his family name. The traditional Japanese art of the sword, to him and his family, is equally important to practicing magic, and Jin has put much time into training how to fight with his swords. He has also learned the traditional way of life, and he chooses to live by his code despite modernity that surrounded him and tempted him to stray from his path. He will not stoop below what is acceptable, even if no one is watching, even if no one else knows or cares about what that code might entail.
Jin is exceptional in all forms of combat - sword, magic, even fists; able to beat even those senior to him before he was admitted into Hogwarts. Although he was reluctant to part with his home, he knew that the decision was for the best. He started at Hogwarts as a first year student and has progressively moved up through the years, graduating through the ranks easily, scoring high marks on almost all of his tests.
Though Jin only returns home once a year, over the end of the year period, he is still informed of what is going on back home. Near Christmas, when he was 15, Jin learned that
the school he learned the art of the sword from was going to be seized by the government and rebuilt into an apartment complex. He was the only one who vehemently opposed the decision, having come to live by the sword, having come to put his sword over his magic, over everything else in his life.
An attempt was made on his life on Christmas Eve, and Jin watched with wide eyes as he killed the man who had given him everything - his guardian, his teacher, his trainer, his master.
He ran - ran from the only home he knew, and was only seen again back in Hogwarts for his fifth year. He was a little different - wearing glasses, keeping his swords locked away, but what he lived by never changed. He now devoted his life to magic and everything Hogwarts had to offer him.
It is Jin's final year at Hogwarts - and he knows not where the path leads; only that he will walk it. Whatever will happen, will happen - he knows fully what he has done, and he knows what he must face up to when the time comes.
